Lupaka continues to evaluate projects in a range of jurisdictions. The Company’s current portfolio includes two projects in Oregon ranging from relative grass roots to previously drilled claim blocks with good historic mineralized intersects.
Why Oregon? The Company has access to an extensive data base of properties in the Oregon, Nevada, Utah region, specifically SE Oregon and NE Nevada in the region of the Carlin Trend. Oregon properties are often of interest due to data available from previous development work and their history. Prior to the 1990’s, Oregon was a hot bed of mining exploration. During the 1990’s the State of Oregon initiated a series of laws designed to be environmentally protective but were perceived to be very restrictive with respect to development of mining properties. As a consequence, mining exploration companies left Oregon and mining development came to a virtual halt.
More recently, the Oregon government has become more supportive of mining. Mining companies are considering Oregon properties again. The first new mine to go into production in Oregon for many years will likely be the Grassy Mountain Gold mine in Malheur County. When this mine goes into production it is probable that exploration activity in Oregon will accelerate.
